Sunday, August 31, 2008

(Sports Network) - Ivan Calderon remained unbeaten and retained the WBO light flyweight title after a technical decision over Hugo Cazares.

Calderon (32-0), fighting in his home country of Puerto Rico, won as the fight was stopped at 1:58 of the seventh round after an accidental head butt by the Mexican Cazares (26-5-1) severely lacerated Calderon's forehead. Calderon was ahead on all three scorecards -- 67-66, 68-65, 68-65 -- at the time of the head butt.
