Richmond, VA -- (Sports Network) - Eric Maynor scored 19 points and dished out six assists to lead the top-seeded Virginia Commonwealth Rams to a 57-46 win over the ninth-seeded Towson Tigers in the quarterfinal round of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament at the Richmond Coliseum. Larry Sanders added 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Rams (24-6), who will move on to face William & Mary in Sunday's semifinal round. Jamal Shuler chipped in with 10 points for VCU. Towson (13-18) was led by Josh Thornton who scored 13 points in a losing effort. Tony Durant also got involved, tallying 12 points and 15 rebounds. Despite shooting just 3-of-14 from three-point range in the first half, VCU managed to take 25-22 lead at the break. The Rams overcame a poor shooting performance in the second stanza by knocking down 15-of-26 free-throw attempts, en route to the 11-point victory. VCU was tenacious on defense, forcing Towson into 15 turnovers and holding the Tigers to a dismal 29.8 percent shooting from the floor.
