Albany, NY -- (Sports Network) - University of Albany head coach Will Brown has dismissed freshman guard Josh Martin from the basketball team for repeated violations of team rules.

"We worked with Josh to be successful both in the classroom and on the court at the University at Albany and provided him with several opportunities to accomplish those goals," said Brown. "It's very unfortunate that he was not able to meet the minimum requirements that were established. While we are disappointed, we wish him the best in the future and are assisting him as he moves forward."

Martin, a 6-foot-2 guard from Philadelphia, played in 25 games and made five starts during the 2007-08 season. He averaged 5.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists.
