Butler Rewards Stevens With New Contract

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

(Sports Network) - Butler University has given a new contract to men's basketball coach Brad Stevens, the new deal will keep Stevens with the Bulldogs until the 2014-15 season. Terms of the pact were not disclosed.

"We are extremely excited to reach this long-term agreement to have Brad continue to lead our program," said Butler director of athletics Barry Collier. "Brad has demonstrated that he understands the Butler way, and we look forward to continued success under his leadership."

The 31-year old coach guided Butler to a Horizon League-record 30-4 mark and a berth in the 2008 NCAA Tournament in his first year on the job.

"My family and I are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue coaching at Butler, and more importantly, to continue to be a part of the Butler community," Stevens said.

Last season, Butler won the Great Alaska shoo tout, captured its second Wooden Tradition trophy in as many years, won a second straight Horizon League regular season championship and claimed the Horizon League Tournament title. The Bulldogs defeated South Alabama, 81-61, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
