NCAA Game Summary - UC Riverside Vs. Cal State Fullerton

Anaheim, CA -- (Sports Network) - Josh Akognon scored 20 points to lead the third-seeded Cal State Fullerton Titans to an 81-69 win over the seventh- seeded UC Riverside Highlanders in the quarterfinal round of the Big West Conference Tournament. Frank Robinson also got involved, tallying 19 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for the Titans (22-8), who will move on to face second-seeded Cal State Northridge in Friday's semifinal round. Scott Cutley added 10 points in the win. Larry Cunningham led the way for the Highlanders (9-21), scoring a game-high 23 points in a losing effort. Aaron Scott and Christian Soto also got involved, adding 12 and 10 points, respectively. The Titans got off to a fast start, shooting 45.2 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 35-21 lead at the break. CS-Fullerton shot 6-of-9 from three-point range in the second half en route to a 12-point victory. The Titans were tenacious on defense, forcing the Highlanders into 18 turnovers. That effort helped Cal State Fullerton to overcome a 39-23 rebounding disadvantage.
