NCAA Game Summary - UC Santa Barbara At Cal State Northridge

Friday, March 7, 2008

(Sports Network) - UC Santa Barbara kept its winning streak alive as the Gauchos took care of the Cal State Northridge Matadors, 77-66, behind Alex Harris' 25 points and seven rebounds in a Big West Conference matchup.

The win ties the Gauchos (22-7, 11-4 BWC) atop the BWC standings and extends their conference winning streak to five games. Ivan Elliott netted 16 points, while James Powell and Chris Devine chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Cal State Northridge (19-9, 11-4) has now lost three of its last four games despite 25 points from Deon Tresvant. Rob Haynes also got involved with 12 points and three assists.

UCSB jumped out to a 16-point lead at the midway point in the first half, and 57.1 field goal percentage allowed the Gauchos to take a 43-36 lead at the intermission.

The shots weren't falling as frequently for either team in the final frame, but Santa Barbara's 21-for-30 performance at the stripe was more than enough to escape with the 11-point win.

Cal State Northridge could not overcome 18 turnovers and a 5-for-21 effort from behind the arc.
