Radebaugh Named Men's Hoops Coach At Charleston Southern

Tuesday, May 17, 2005

Barclay Radebaugh was hired as the new men's head basketball coach at Charleston Southern University on Tuesday.

Radebaugh takes over for Jim Platt, who announced his resignation on April 26. Platt left his position to become an assistant at Army under long-time friend Jim Crews.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for me and my family and we are looking forward to this next step in our lives," said Radebaugh. "I sincerely appreciate the support and confidence that CSU has shown me and I will work hard everyday to represent this great institution with integrity and class."

Platt spent the last five seasons at Charleston Southern, compiling a 55-89 record, including a 33-43 mark in the Big South.

The Buccaneers finished the 2004-05 campaign with a 13-17 record. After upset victories over Liberty and High Point, Charleston Southern lost to Winthrop in the championship game of the conference tournament.

Radebaugh joins the Buccaneers after spending one season at the University of Miami as a member of Frank Haith's coaching staff.

Prior to his arrival at Miami, Radebaugh enjoyed one campaign as head coach at Queens University in Charlotte, where he guided the Royals to a 21-8 record. He has also had coaching experience at East Tennessee State, Wofford, Furman, South Carolina and Winthrop.
