Memphis, TN -- (Sports Network) - Jerome Jordan scored 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, leading Tulsa to a 66-49 victory over East Carolina in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament at FedEx Forum. Ben Uzoh chipped in 15 points for the Golden Hurricane (18-12), who have won eight of their last 10 and earned a quarterfinal matchup with second-seeded UAB on Thursday. Tulsa held a dominant 46-29 edge on the boards and shot 46.3 percent. Cory Farmer scored 15 points and Gabe Blair added 10 for East Carolina (11-19), which shot a dismal 28.3 percent overall. The Pirates closed their season with two straight losses. East Carolina scored the first five points of the game and led 15-10 midway through the opening half, but Tulsa followed with the next 10 points and never trailed again. A three-pointer by Rod Earls snapped a tie and put the Golden Hurricane ahead for good with 7 1/2 minutes to play in the half. Tulsa held a 28-23 lead at the break and, after a bucket by East Carolina to start the second half, blew the game open with a 13-2 run. A free throw by Jordan made it 41-27 with just under 13 minutes remaining and the Golden Hurricane cruised from there.
