Florida F Mitchell Will Transfer

POSTED: 1:43 pm EDT April 11, 2008

(Sports Network) - Florida forward Jonathan Mitchell has announced he will transfer at the end of the semester.

The 6-foot-7 sophomore has not decided where he is headed, but he will not play for the Gators next season. The Mount Vernon, New York native came to Florida with great promise after breaking former Connecticut star and current Chicago Bull Ben Gordon's career scoring record at Mount Vernon High School.

"Jonathan is an outstanding individual and a terrific person," said Gators head coach Billy Donovan. "I would like to help Jonathan and his family in any way possible to ensure the best for his future, both academically and athletically."

Mitchell had just one start in two years at Florida, though, and averaged 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds this season.
