Report: Jarvis Taking Over At Florida Atlantic

Monday, May 26, 2008

(Sports Network) - Florida Atlantic has named Mike Jarvis as its new men's basketball coach, according to the South Florida Sun- Sentinel.

The 63-year-old Jarvis takes over for Rex Walters, who announced his resignation on April 14 to take the head coaching job at the University of San Francisco.

Walters, a former first-round pick of the 1993 NBA Draft, led the Owls to 31-33 record in his two seasons as the school's boss.

Jarvis, who has a 364-201 record in 18-plus career seasons, becomes Florida Atlantic's third head coach in the last four years. He has previously coached Boston University, George Washington and St. John's and has guided teams to nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including the Sweet 16 twice and one Elite Eight.
