NCAA Game Summary - Hofstra At Delaware

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

(Sports Network) - Marc Egerson piled up 24 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists in leading the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens to a 74-69 win over Colonial Athletic Association rival Hofstra.

It was the second straight double-double for Egerson, as Delaware (13-15, 9-8 CAA) picks up back-to-back wins. Herb Courtney added 16 points and seven boards in the win, while Alphonso Dawson and Brian Johnson each scored 11.

Antoine Agudio led Hofstra (11-17, 7-10) with 24 points, and in doing so he became the school's career scoring leader with 2,236 points, breaking Steve Nisenson's mark set back in 1965. It was Agudio's 16th 20-point game of the season, although it was not enough for the Pride to notch a fourth straight win. Charles Jenkins chipped in with 16 points, while Nathaniel Lester scored 12, and Dane Johnson finished with 11.

Delaware jumped out to a 14-8 lead seven minutes into the first half, but Hofstra responded with an 8-0 run over the next six minutes and change. The Blue Hens eventually went into the half with a slim 27-25 lead.

The Blue Hens grabbed the momentum in the second half, shooting 56.5 percent from the field and knocking down 17-of-22 from the foul line to earn the win.

Outside of Lester's 12-point effort, the Hofstra bench accounted for only two points in the contest, as the Pride were not able to keep up with the Blue Hens.
