Indianapolis, IN -- (Sports Network) - Mike Green scored a game-high 19 points, grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and dished out a game-high seven assists to lead 14th-ranked Butler past Illinois-Chicago, 66-50, in the Horizon League semifinals. A.J. Graves added 14 points and pulled down six boards, while Pete Campbell scored 15 points for the Bulldogs (28-3), who will go on to play Cleveland State in the final on Tuesday. Robert Kreps scored a team-high 15 points, while Jermaine Dailey had 12 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Flames (18-15). Scott Vandermeer pitched in with seven points and seven rebounds. After trailing for most of the first half, Butler took its first lead of the game when Green hit a jumper to make the score 20-19 with 4:43 left in the first half. Leading 25-23, Green hit a pair of free throws that sparked a 9-1 Butler run over the final 2:08 of the first half, to give the Bulldogs a 34-24 lead going into the break. Butler started the second half hot, as Matt Howard hit a layup that sparked a 9-1 run, giving the Bulldogs a 43-25 lead with 17:36 left. Butler kept the pressure on and took its biggest lead of the game at 53-29 after Campbell hit a three-pointer with 12:03 left to play. UIC cut the Butler lead to 63-48 after Kreps hit a three-pointer with 2:07 left, but it wasn't enough as Butler cruised to the finish line. UIC surprised Butler at the start of the game. With 13:42 left in the first half, Josh Mayo hit a three-pointer to put the Flames up 11-8. UIC took its biggest lead of the game at 16-11 after Vandermeer hit a foul shot with 10:18 to go in the first half.Game Notes:Butler shot 44.9 percent from the field compared to UIC shooting 30.2 percent...UIC outrebounded Butler, 37-32.
