NCAA Game Summary - Georgia State At James Madison

Saturday, March 1, 2008

(Sports Network) - Terrance Carter scored a game-high 20 points to lead the James Madison Dukes to a 70-60 win over the Georgia State Panthers in a Colonial Athletic Association tilt at the Convocation Center.

Juwann James chipped in with 16 points for JMU (13-16, 5-13 CAA), while Kyle Swanston scored 11, and Pierre Curtis finished with 10.

Trae Goldston and Leonard Mendez each scored 15 points to pace Georgia State (9-20, 5-13). Rashad Chase chipped in with 12 points off the bench.

JMU grabbed a 27-26 halftime lead, after a nip-and-tuck first half that saw neither team shoot better than 40 percent from the field.

But the Dukes woke up in the second stanza, shooting 58 percent from the field and knocking down 20-of-24 from the foul line to earn the 10-point win.

The teams combined for 39 turnovers in the game, but the Dukes won by holding a decisive, 30-12 scoring advantage at the charity stripe.
