Fresno, CA -- (Sports Network) - Kyle Spain dropped in 14 points to help lead the San Diego State Aztecs to a 62-50 win over the Liberty Flames as part of the World Vision Classic at the Save Mart Center. Also scoring in double figures for the Aztecs (1-0) were Billy White and Lorrenzo Wade who tallied 13 and 12 points, respectively, with the former also clearing a team-best seven rebounds. The Flames (0-1) were paced by Rell Porter with his 14 points, followed by Anthony Smith with 11 on just 3-of-11 shooting from the floor. Alex McLean scored the first points of the game for Liberty, but from there the contest belonged to SDSU which held the visitors to just 6-of-22 shooting from the field in the first half, resulting in a 27-19 score at the break. The Aztecs came out in the second half and converted all six opportunities at the free-throw line, 5-of-8 beyond the arc and 57.1 percent from the field overall in claiming the 12-point decision. In order to overcome 22 turnovers, San Diego State's defense stepped up and limited Liberty to a mere 34 percent shooting from the floor.
