GAME NOTES: Conference USA action is slated for tonight in the Big Easy, as the Tulane Green Wave get set to host the Marshall Thundering Herd at Fogelman Arena. The Thundering Herd have struggled lately, dropping two of their last three to fall to 15-12 on the season. The club found itself on the wrong end of an 89-64 rout at Tulsa the last time out, which evened its C-USA mark at 7-7. Things have been worse for Tulane, as the Green Wave has fallen to 15-13 overall thanks to a seven-game slide. An embarrassing 69-44 setback at UAB on Saturday gave the club a mere 5-9 tally in league play. Tulane does, however, hold a slim 3-2 advantage over Marshall with regard to the all-time series.

The Thundering Herd shot just 41.5 percent from the floor in Saturday's miserable 25-point loss at Tulsa, including 5-of-12 from beyond the arc. Marshall allowed Tulsa, however, to shoot at a blazing 62.5 percent clip, and converted a mediocre 15-of-23 from the charity stripe. Markel Humphrey scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to pace Marshall, while Tirrell Baines added 15 points in the losing effort. Mark Dorris chipped in 13 points for the Thundering Herd. Marshall is shooting just 42.8 percent as a team this season, and as a result manages only 68.3 ppg. Dorris averages 13.7 ppg to lead the club in scoring, and he is followed by Humphrey and his 13.1 ppg. Baines leads the Thundering Herd on the glass with 5.9 rpg, in addition to netting 11.3 ppg.

The Green Wave average just 66.2 ppg, but have held opponents to a mere 62.6 ppg and a .428 shooting percentage. David Gomez tallies 14.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game to pace Tulane, while Kevin Sims adds 12.2 ppg and leads the club in assists with 108. The Green Wave shot a miserable 32.1 percent from the field, including 4-of-16 from long range during Saturday's 25-point loss at UAB, and the team converted a mere 6-of-14 from the charity stripe. Tulane was guilty of 12 turnovers, and was outrebounded by a 43-30 margin. Robinson Louisme tallied 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Green Wave, while David Gomez also netted 12 points in the losing effort.

Tulane has been on a downward spiral of late, but a little home cooking might be just what the Green Wave needs to break out of its recent funk. A solid defensive effort, which the club is more than capable of, should result in a satisfying win over the Herd.

Predicted Outcome

Tulane 68, Marshall 63
