NCAA Game Summary - Stony Brook At George Washington

Omar Williams scored 13 points, as the 16th- ranked George Washington Colonials routed the Stony Brook Seawolves, 88-60, at the Smith Center.

Mike Hall had 12 points and Danilo Patrick added 11 before being removed for the Colonials (13-1), who have won five consecutive games and are off to their best start since the 1953-54 season.

Mitchell Beauford led the Seawolves (3-12) with 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting and Mike Popoko netted 12 for Stony Brook, which has lost two straight and three of its last four contests.

George Washington was already leading 13-0 and almost 4 1/2 minutes had eclipsed before Stony Brook scored its first basket. Pinnock score the first five points of the run and Williams contributed the final six of the spurt.

With the Colonials leading 25-10, George Washington reeled off an 11-4 streak, capped by Carl Elliott's three-pointer.

Stony Brook would pull within 39-26 on Anthony Noble's bucket with almost four minutes remaining in the half, but couldn't get any closer, as GW finished the half with a 47-30 lead.

The Colonials shot 51.9 percent in the first half, including 7-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Seawolves connected on 39.3 percent of their shots.

GW opened the final frame with a 10-3 spurt to take a 57-33 edge on Hall's three-pointer. Stony Brook did not score a field goal for the first four minutes of the second half. The Colonials led by at least 20 the rest of the game.

The Seawolves converted on 40 percent of their shots for the game, while GW shot 46.6 percent from the field. The Colonials scored 21 points off 18 Stony Brook turnovers.

Game Notes:

Stony Brook head coach Steve Pikiell made his return to GW, he was an associate head coach from 2001-2005...This was the first ever meeting between the schools...Eleven Colonials scored...George Washington's Pops Mensah- Bonsu pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.
