GAME NOTES: The Weber State Wildcats will try to close out their regular season schedule on a winning note when they take on the Sacramento State Hornets in a Big Sky Conference matchup this evening at The Hornets Nest. The last time the Wildcats were on the floor, the team suffered a 74-71 setback to Northern Arizona, falling to a mediocre 9-6 in Big Sky play. Overall, Weber State is one game above .500, but on the road the team has struggled, posting a meager 3-9 ledger. As for the Hornets, they have had very little success throughout the season. In fact, the team has just four victories overall, and has lost seven consecutive matchups, including an 83-77 loss to UC Davis this past Saturday. With respects to the all-time series between the two schools on the hardwood, the Wildcats have won 21 of the 25 matchups, and that includes a 69-56 victory earlier this season.

The Wildcats are shooting a strong 45.2 percent from the field on the season, but that has led to a mere 65.5 ppg. Dezmon Harris is the lone player netting double figures for Weber State, as the guard is averaging 10.9 ppg. The last time Weber State was on the floor the team shot 46.7 percent from the field, and also connected on 11-of-25 attempts from behind the arc. Despite the surprising offensive display, the Wildcats still fell to Northern Arizona by three points. Juan Pablo Silveira and Trevor Morris both scored 12 points apiece in the loss, while Brody Van Brocklin tallied 11 points. Kellen McCoy chipped in 10 points, while Harris struggled in the loss, posting seven points, while committing four turnovers.

Much like their counterpart, the Hornets have been dreadful offensively, as the team is averaging a mere 64.3 ppg, while shooting just 40.1 percent from the field. The team has also been embarrassed on the glass, losing the rebound battle by 7.2 rpg. Loren Leath is shooting an atrocious 33.7 percent from the field on the season, but the guard is still pacing the team with 13.3 ppg. Vinnie McGhee has run the show on the floor, pacing the team with 136 assists, while chipping in 12.6 ppg. Over the weekend, the Hornets put forth a strong offensive effort, scoring 77 points. However, the team still fell to UC Davis by six points. The Hornets shot 41.1 percent from the field and committed just eight turnovers in the contest. McGhee scored 24 points and dished out seven assists, while Clark Woods tallied 15 points. Justin Williams contributed 14 points off the bench, while Leath chipped in 10 points on a 5-of-15 clip from the floor.

The Hornets have been dreadful throughout the season, and come into this game with a long losing skid. Unfortunately Sacramento State will likely continue its losing ways against a Weber State squad that can play at a high level defensively.

Predicted Outcome

Weber State 67, Sacramento State 58
