Nashville, TN -- (Sports Network) - Andre' Woodson completed 32-of-50 passes for 358 yards and four touchdowns, as Kentucky recorded a 35-28 win over Florida State in the Music City Bowl. Rafael Little rushed for 152 yards on 28 carries and caught eight passes for 50 yards and a score for the Wildcats (8-5), who beat Clemson in last year's Music City Bowl. Steve Johnson hauled in seven balls for 124 yards and two touchdowns, while Keenan Burton had 56 yards on seven catches. Drew Weatherford threw for 276 yards on 22-of-48 attempts with one touchdown and two interceptions, as Florida State (7-6) ended the season on a two-game skid. Antone Smith rushed for 156 yards on 17 carries and Weatherford ran for two scores. Preston Parker paced the receiving corps with eight grabs for 105 yards. Greg Carr finished the game with 99 yards and one touchdown on six receptions. The Seminoles were shorthanded for the game because of the academic cheating scandal involving numerous student-athletes. The Wildcats took a 21-14 lead in the third quarter, as Woodson threw a two- yard touchdown pass to Little, capping the 10-play drive with 6:49 remaining. Kentucky began to wear down the depleted Seminoles, orchestrating a 15-play drive to extended its advantage to 28-14. Facing 2nd-and-goal, in the waning seconds of the third, Tony Dixon bounced to the left and powered his way for the four-yard score. The Seminoles trimmed the deficit to 28-21 with 8:02 remaining in the fourth. Florida State was in striking distance after Smith rushed for 22 yards, spotting the ball at the Kentucky four. On 1st-and-goal, Smith pushed the ball to the one, but Weatherford and Smith were stuffed on second and third down. On fourth down, Weatherford faked the handoff to Smith, rolled to his right and walked untouched into the end zone. The Wildcats restored a 14-point cushion with 5:19 left. Under heavy pressure, Woodson threw a screen pass to Johnson, who avoided several would-be tacklers and scampered for a 38-yard touchdown. Kentucky looked to seal the win, but Lones Seiber's 39-yard field goal was blocked by Michael Garvin. Carr's seven-yard TD grab in the corner of the end zone with 2:14 on the clock made it a 35-28 contest. The play was originally ruled an incompletion, but was overturned after a review. With three seconds remaining in regulation, Florida State was positioned at the Kentucky 44 and had one last chance, but Weatherford's hail mary was knocked down in the end zone. Matt Lentz blocked Graham Gano's punt on the Seminoles opening possession of the game. Lentz scooped the loose ball up and returned it to the Florida State 25-yard line. Kentucky took full advantage of the excellent field position, as Woodson found tight end Jacob Tamme all alone in the end zone for a 14-yard touchdown. The Wildcats marched down the field on their next series, and appeared to be on the verge of scoring again, when Little fumbled the ball inside the red zone. Florida State cornerback Tony Carter recovered the fumble at the one and raced across midfield before stumbling over a teammate. Florida State started the drive at the 47 and the turnover proved costly, as the Seminoles quickly tied the contest with 1:49 left in the first quarter. A 27-yard dash by Weatherford spotted the ball at the 20. On 1st-and-goal from the six, Weatherford ran to his left and stretched the ball over the goal line for the score. Kentucky grabbed a 14-7 lead on Woodson's 13-yard touchdown pass to Johnson with 8:28 left in the second. An offensive pass interference infraction on Carr negated his 33-yard TD, which would have tied the game at 14. The penalty placed the ball at the Kentucky 48 and Gary Cismesia would eventually miss a 51-yard field goal. On the ensuing possession, Little fumbled again and Florida State drove to the one, where the Wildcats defense tightened up and stopped Seddrick Holloway on 4th-and-goal. Carter intercepted Woodson on the first play of the next series and ran 24 yards for the tying score with 3:28 remaining before halftime. Seiber kicked a 37-yard field goal in the final minute of the half, but a personal foul on the Seminoles for leaping kept the drive alive. In hindsight, Kentucky should have declined the penalty because Seiber's 39- yarder sailed wide of the left upright and the score remained knotted at 14 at the break.Game Notes:Kentucky made its 12th appearance in a bowl game (7-5)...Florida State's bowl record dropped to 21-14-2...Head coach Bobby Bowden has led the Seminoles to a bowl game in 26 consecutive seasons...The two clubs met for the first time since 1965, and the Wildcats own a 4-1-1 lead in the all-time series...Kentucky outgained the Seminoles, 501-480.
