Kentucky's Paris Giving Up Football Due To Medical Condition

Friday, February 29, 2008

(Sports Network) - University of Kentucky defensive end Jamil Paris has a medical condition that will require him to give up playing football.

The university did not reveal what Paris is suffering from.

"I'm very disappointed for Jamil," head coach Rick Brooks said. "My biggest concern is for Jamil's health and for him to continue his education."

Paris has played in 21 games over the last two seasons, including one starting assignment. He totaled 10 tackles, including two quarterback sacks, caused two fumbles, and recovered a fumble.

The sophomore remains in school at UK and will be kept on scholarship.
