Kentucky WR Lyons Done After Knee Injury

Monday, October 13, 2008

(Sports Network) - The collegiate career of Kentucky wide receiver Dicky Lyons Jr. is over after he injured his knee during a 24-17 loss to South Carolina on Saturday, head coach Rich Brooks announced on Monday.

The senior tore a posterior cruciate ligament and also suffered a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee while being tackled in the second quarter of the contest. After the swelling subsides he will have surgery.

"I feel very bad for Dicky," Brooks said. "He has had a great career and made some great plays. He is a crowd favorite and has meant a lot to this program."

Lyons ranks fifth in school history in receptions (141), fourth in receiving yards (1,752) and tied for third in touchdown catches (18).
