Saturday, September 13, 2008

(Sports Network) - Dan LeFevour connected on 28-of-42 passes for 361 yards to lead his Central Michigan Chippewas to a 31-28 victory over the Ohio University Bobcats in a Mid-American Conference contest.

Ontario Sneed ran for a pair of touchdowns for the Chippewas (2-1, 1-0 MAC), and LeFevour also had a rushing score.

Boo Jackson had three touchdown passes in defeat for Ohio (0-3, 0-1), and he racked up a school single-game record of 413 yards of total offense.

Heading into the fourth quarter, Central Michigan held a 17-14 advantage. The Chippewas extended that edge to 24-14 less than two minutes into the final frame on a three-yard touchdown run by Sneed.

Ohio University cut its deficit to 24-21 less than three minutes later on a 43-yard touchdown pass from Jackson to Donte Harden.

LeFevour gave Central Michigan its 10-point lead back at 31-21 with two-yard touchdown run.

The Bobcats wasted no time getting back on the scoreboard, as Jackson threw a 77-yard touchdown pass to Chris Garrett. With 8:51 remaining in the tilt, Central Michigan held a narrow 31-28 advantage. Unfortunately for Ohio, it was unable to even the score down the stretch.

The first quarter was dominated by Ohio. Chris Garrett opened the scoring at the 10:37 mark with a 12-yard touchdown run. Then, less than two minutes later, the Bobcats extended their advantage to 14-0 with a 45-yard touchdown strike from Jackson to Garrett.

Central Michigan fought back in the second quarter. After a 32-yard field goal by Andrew Aguila made the score 14-3, and a one-yard touchdown run by Sneed cut further into the deficit. After 30 minutes of action, the Chippewas trailed, 14-10.

The only points scored in the third quarter came on a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown by Central Michigan's Antonio Brown, making the score 17-14 in favor of the Chippewas.
