NCAA Game Summary - Rutgers At Cincinnati

(Sports Network) - Chazz Anderson threw for 239 yards and ran for a touchdown, lifting the Cincinnati Bearcats past the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 13-10, in a Big East battle at Nippert Stadium.

Anderson, making just his second collegiate start, converted on 21-of-29 pass attempts for the Bearcats (5-1, 1-0 BE), who won their fourth game in a row. Marcus Barnett hauled in five balls for 79 yards in the win and Jacob Ramsey paced the ground attack with 85 yards on 14 carries.

Kordell Young posted 78 rushing yards on 22 carries for Rutgers (1-5, 0-2) and he also threw a touchdown pass. Mike Teel hit on 19-of-35 tosses for 175 yards in the setback, while Kevin Brock pulled down seven passes for 51 yards. With the loss, the Knights fell to 0-5 against Football Bowl Subdivision programs for the season.

With 1:06 left in the opening quarter, Jake Rogers hit a 19-yard field goal to give Cincinnati the lead.

At the 10:10 mark of the second frame, Anderson scurried eight yards for a score to push the Bearcats further ahead.

Rutgers finally got something going early in the third quarter, as it capped an eight-play, 90-yard drive with a 17-yard touchdown pass from Young to Jack Corcoran at the 10:36 point.

The Bearcats' pushed their lead to 13-7 behind a Rogers 50-yard field with 6:38 left in the third period.

The Knights countered with a 50-yard field goal of their own, as San San Te converted his attempt with 2:53 to go in the frame.

Neither offense would be heard from again, as Cincinnati held on for the three-point win.

The Bearcats totaled 336 yards in the game, while the Knights were limited to just 254 yards. Neither team had much success on third down, as Cincinnati went 0-of-11 and Rutgers 3-of-15.

Mike Teel aired it out for 319 yards and two touchdowns, including the eventual game-winning 42-yard hookup with Kenny Britt in the fourth quarter, as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights upended the NC State Wolfpack, 29-23, in the Papajohns.com Bowl.
