NCAA Game Summary - San Jose State At Hawaii

(Sports Network) - Kyle Reed threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns to lead the San Jose State Spartans to a 20-17 victory over the Hawaii Warriors in a Western Athletic Conference showdown at Aloha Stadium.

The Spartans (3-2, 1-0 WAC) only tallied 237 total yards in the game, but it was good enough for the team to grab its second win in its last three contests.

As for the Warriors (1-3, 0-1), they were led by Kealoha Pilares, who scored two rushing touchdowns and finished the game with 43 yards just three carries.

The Spartans jumped out to an early lead when Reed hit David Richmond with a 77-yard scoring strike.

The Warriors instantly answered back with a 34-yard rushing touchdown down by Pilares, tying the game at 7-7.

Early in the second frame Pilares plunged into the end zone from one yard out to give the Warriors a 14-7 edge.

In the final seconds of the first half Dan Kelly nailed a 37-yard field goal to give the Warriors a 17-7 edge as the two teams went into the break.

Reed cut the Spartans deficit to 17-14 late in the third quarter when he hit Jeff Clark with a 10-yard touchdown pass.

Midway through the final frame Jared Strubeck nailed a 50-yard field goal for SJSU, tying the game at 17-17.

Strubeck gave the Spartans a 20-17 lead late in the fourth with a 47-yard field goal.

San Jose State forced six turnovers in the contest, and held Hawaii to just 5- of-14 on third down attempts.
