I-AA Bulldogs extend Pough through 2009

South Carolina State announced Friday that head football coach Oliver "Buddy" Pough has been given a two-year contract extension. The extension keeps Pough under contract through the 2009 season.

The Bulldogs are 4-1 this season, including 1-0 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Now in his third year, Pough has compiled a record of 19-10.

"In recognition of his outstanding performance and work we feel it appropriate to extend his contract at this time," said president Dr. Andrew Hugine, Jr.

Pough is a native of Orangeburg and a 1975 graduate of SCSU. As an assistant with the Bulldogs in the 1980s, Pough helped guide SCSU to four MEAC championships and two I-AA playoff appearances.

The Bulldogs take a three-game winning streak into Saturday's game against Bethune-Cookman.
