NCAA Game Summary - Stanford At Washington

Sunday, September 28, 2008

(Sports Network) - Anthony Kimble rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Stanford Cardinals to a 35-28 victory over the Washington Huskies in a Pac-10 tilt at Husky Stadium.

Tavita Pritchard also had a solid performance for Stanford (3-2, 2-1 Pac-10), as the quarterback threw for 222 yards and three touchdowns.

The Huskies (0-4, 0-2) suffered more than just their fourth loss this season, as the team also lost quarterback Jake Locker, who will miss time with a broken thumb. Ronnie Fouch took over under center, but the signal caller struggled, completing just 13-of-27 passes for 186 yards and one score.

The Huskies opened the scoring in the first quarter with a one-yard touchdown plunge by Brandon Johnson.

On their next possession the Cardinal tied the game at 7-7 when Kimble scampered into the end zone on a 13-yard run.

Stanford took a 14-7 lead midway through the second stanza when Pritchard connected with Jim Dray on an 11-yard touchdown pass.

Washington answered back with a 12-play, 76-yard drive that was capped off by a one-yard run by Johnson.

With less than two minutes remaining in the first half Pritchard hit Doug Baldwin with a 61-yard scoring strike, giving the Cardinal a 21-14 edge at the break.

Stanford added to its lead midway through the third quarter when Kimble broke free and rumbled down field for an 83-yard touchdown run.

The Huskies cut their deficit to 28-21 with a five-yard touchdown pass from Fouch to Jermaine Kearse.

Early in the final frame Stanford pushed its lead to 35-21 when Pritchard connected with Ryan Whalen on an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Fouch plunged into the end zone from one yard out late in the fourth quarter, but the Huskies could pull no closer, as the Cardinal held on for the seven- point win.
