Virginia Tech Dismisses RB Ore

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

(Sports Network) - Virginia Tech running back Branden Ore has been dismissed from the team, head coach Frank Beamer announced on Wednesday.

"During recent meetings with Branden Ore, we have decided that it would be best for Branden to pursue other opportunities," Beamer said in a statement. "Branden has had many great moments here at Virginia Tech, and we wish him well in the future."

Ore, who was slated to be a senior this upcoming season, played in all 14 games last year with 13 starts. He led the Hokies with 992 yards rushing and was second on the team with 10 touchdowns (nine rushing).

Over three seasons in Blacksburg, the 22-year-old Virginia native amassed 2,776 rushing yards on 617 carries with 31 TDs, adding 43 receptions for 399 yards and two scores.
