Accused Gang Leader Wants To Represent Self

Posted: 12:23 pm EDT June 24, 2009Updated: 1:25 pm EDT June 24, 2009

An accused gang leader in Flagler County says he wants to represent himself in his murder trial.

Brandon Washington faces second-degree murder charges because investigators say Rashawn Pugh was killed in 2007 while attempting a home invasion that Washington planned.

Washington says he wants to represent himself so he can personally question the witnesses, even though his current lawyer is against it.

The judge will rule on the issue at a later date.
