With Or Without Disabilities Palm Coast Summer Camp Welcomes

Posted: 11:34 am EDT July 1, 2009

According to New-JounralOnline.com, Palm Coast has recently joined hands with the Special Olympics community for the Fit and Fun Summer Camp. The camp brings kids with or without disabilities together at Indian Trails Middle School.

Parents say that the camp prevents the disabled from feeling isolated as they normally would. Also the interaction and activities helps encourage the kids to become more independent and social.

"These kids, they're given a raw deal when they're born, but you can't continue to exclude them," said Christina Pinto, Special Olympics Flagler County coordinator.

The group hopes to expand the summer camp, and provide a more permanent atmosphere through the city's parks and recreation centers year-round.
