Woman Allegedly Shoots Husband At Villages

Posted: 5:05 pm EST November 12, 2009Updated: 11:31 pm EST November 12, 2009

Sumter County Officers say a woman shot her husband, then hid from law enforcement for hours while a SWAT team surrounded her home Thursday.

Deputies say a friend talked Denise Textor out of the home on Bloomington Place in the Villages of Kelly Ridge.

The nearly four hour standoff came to a peaceful end just before nine o'clock Thursday evening.

"It's a happy, friendly village, everybody gets along well. Everybody is very friendly. It's a very friendly village, that's why we're shocked," said Loretta McNeel, a neighbor in the area.

Officials say it all happened when the Sheriff's Office received a 911 call around five o'clock.

"A man came out of his house and went to the neighbor to call 911 and she was in there. The police officer said, one way or another we're going to get her out," resident Janet Semerad told Eyewitness News.

The standoff brought out nearly 30 law enforcement officials, the SWAT team and armored trucks.

Eyewitness News was told at times, the suspect actually came out of her home with the revolver in her hand.

Those who know the Textors told Eyewitness News they don't understand what could have pushed her to the pull the trigger.
