ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A potential mechanical problem forced Walt Disney World to shut down a monorail train for the second time this week. Disney officials confirmed to Eyewitness News that a train full of passengers had to be towed into the nearest station Tuesday night. The problem comes just two days after a power failure stranded hundreds of people on the monorail system for three hours on Sunday.A Disney spokesperson said Tuesday night's issue had nothing to do with Sunday's power failure. The train was transporting passengers Tuesday between the transportation center and the Magic Kingdom when a computer detected a potential mechanical problem. The problem is just one out of many issues this year with the monorail system. In September, smoke filled a monorail platform following an electrical short. The biggest issue was in July, when two trains collided after a problem with switching trains on different tracks; the crash killed a monorail pilot, 21-year-old Austin Wuennenburg.Disney officials say the train will be evaluated to see if any problems exist before it's put back into service.
