Couple Seeks Sponsors To Pay For Wedding

2 Companies Offer To Furnish Couple's Rings

Posted: 5:53 p.m. EDT June 26, 2003

These days, just about every event is sponsored.

But bride-to-be Debbie Lay is taking the idea of sponsorship one step further.

Lay and her fiancé are hard at work trying to get companies to sponsor their wedding, KMBC-TV in Kansas City, Mo., reported.

"My friends and my dad think I'm nuts," Lay said.

When her fiancé first approached her with the idea, Lay said no. But she changed her mind when she realized how much money her wedding could cost.

Lay said her sister and a co-worker think the sponsorship idea is great.

So far, two companies have offered to furnish wedding rings. Lay said she hopes all the items in her wedding will be paid for by sponsorships.

The couple is scheduled to marry in Kansas City next June.

For more information about the marriage, visit the couple's Web site.
