MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A Manheim Township resident said that a bus driver for the school district runs a stop sign near his home frequently, so he started videotaping it and posted it on YouTube, WGAL-TV in Lancaster reported. In the video, a Manheim Township school bus runs through a stop sign 24 times."Rolling through a stop sign, there's no answer for that," said Marcie Brody, a district representative. "Our first question is the safety of the children. We want to get to the bottom of this and get some answers."Keith Walton said he made the recording because the driver "habitually runs the stop sign."He started getting footage after a run-in with the bus driver. According to Walton, they were both driving when the bus driver stopped in the middle of the intersection. He said that he was not expecting that and kept going. The bus driver reported him to police, but Walton realized she was breaking the law as well."I just felt it should be brought to the attention of the parents in the neighborhood that I don't know personally," said Walton.Brightbill Transportation provides the bus and employs the driver. The company released this statement: "Our first concern is the safety of students. This driver will be reprimanded. Obviously, she is doing something wrong and all we have to do is correct that."The driver is supposed to stop at the white line before the intersection. Instead, the video shows her rolling into the intersection. She told the bus company that she is doing that to block the intersection because cars ignore her flashing lights. WGAL-TV spoke with parents who said that is true."I don't blame her at all," said Christine Zorger. "She's trying to protect our kids."Karen Axe said that she has seen cars roll through the intersection."Cars come up, they don't even stop at the stop sign at all," said Axe. "Other times, they stop and then try to keep going, and you don't know which direction the kids are coming from."Brightbill said that the driver will keep her job, but now knows where she needs to stop.Bus officials said that state law changed a few years ago. The law indicates that buses should not stop in the middle of an intersection.
