SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- Parents of special needs students are planning to sue the Seminole County School Board over allegations of abuse by a former teacher.
That same board quietly accepted the resignation of former South Seminole Middle School teacher Kathy Garrett on Tuesday night, but that wasn't enough for the parents in attendance. They were outraged when board members refused to hear their complaints."I'm sick and tired of being ignored and shoved in the corner," says parent Lizbeth Ortiz. "They failed us by not protecting our children and they failed us tonight by not letting us speak our minds."The school board attorney told Channel 9 that public comments aren't taken about pending personnel issues.Garrett is still the subject of an ongoing investigation.
