Jim Morrison in the promotional film

A promotional film made by Florida State University in 1964 that has recently been found features a young, clean-cut Morrison before he went on to sing with The Doors.

In one scene, he's wearing a tasteful sweater as he goes to the mailbox, only to find a rejection letter from the school.

In another scene, Morrison is wearing a suit and tie and an administrator tells him there's no more room for students.

Morrison asks, "How come my parents, the state, the university didn't look ahead?"

A native of Melboure, Fla., Morrison attended Florida State before transferring to UCLA's film school.

Morrison sang and recorded with The Doors from 1967 to his death in 1971 at age 27.

His songs with The Doors have since been featured in many feature films, including "Forrest Gump" ("Hello, I Love You"), "Girl, Interrupted" ("Roadhouse Blues") and most recently, "School of Rock" ("Touch Me).

Morrison was also played by Val Kilmer in the Oliver Stone-directed biopic, "The Doors," in 1991.

The promotional film showing the young Jim Morrison can be seen at iFilm.com or FloridaMemory.com.
