The World Skin Cancer Foundation Celebrity Softball Game will serve as a kick-off event for May's National Skin Cancer Awareness Month and is presented in part by Brighthouse Networks and Clear Channel Radio. After 2008 American Idol finalist and Melbourne resident Robbie Carrico kicks the night off with a rocking rendition of the National Anthem, a pair of star-studded teams led by Miami Dolphins legends Mercury Morris, Bob Kuechenberg and Larry Little will take to the field at 6:00pm for the first pitch.Orlando-based band C-Note and Brevard native Bre Morgan will both perform a song during the traditional 7th Inning Stretch while another Central-Florida musical mainstay, former *NSYNC member Chris Kirkpatrick, will be among the celebrity players. In addition to other notable athletes, entertainers and media personalities suiting up for the game, Mike and Mindy from Lite Rock 99.3 FM will be conducting play-by-play over the Space Coast Stadium PA system throughout the game. This is the inaugural Celebrity Softball Game for the World Skin Cancer Foundation, which is dedicated to promoting a sun-safe and active outdoor lifestyle while building awareness for skin cancer prevention. The Foundation will use the Softball Game as a community-wide exercise in early detection with free admission to the game and free skin cancer screenings offered during the event. Sponsorship and donation proceeds from the game will be used to help the Foundation achieve its goal of offering free screenings on a regular basis around the world while continuing to build overall awareness on the importance of protection against the sun's dangers."Education, early detection and building awareness are all critical in the fight against skin cancer," said World Skin Cancer Foundation President Drew Filliben.
