Wag-N-Walk Dog WalkSumter County dogs (and their people) will have a HOWLin' good time as they participate in the 2nd Annual Wag-N-Walk Dog Walk at the Dade Battlefield Historic State Park, in Bushnell, Florida, on Saturday, November 1st, 2008 (Rain date 11/2/08).

All proceeds will benefit the Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County, Inc. and the Shelter Fund to construct Florida's First "Green" Animal Shelter. The festivities will be from 11:00am until 2:00pm on the beautiful grounds of the Dade Battlefield, just off of SR 48E and then one mile South on CR 603 through the great iron gates of the park.

Dogs & their owners can enjoy an action packed fun filled day of a ½ mile walking path, pet contests (including a "Best Halloween Costume"), delicious treats for people & pooches, Canine Good Citizen Tests, Therapy Dogs visiting, a DJ, local pet service vendors, silent auction tables full of great items, a 50/50 chance drawing and canine agility demos. Federal, State & local law enforcement agency K-9 units will also demonstrate how animals protect our borders, state, county and community, care of the US Customs Service, Florida Fish & Wildlife, Sumter County Sheriff's K-9s. The Bushnell Mounted Patrol Unit will also demonstrate what training their horses undergo.

A donated admission of $5.00/dog and owner, plus $2.50 for any additional dog or guest is requested. All dogs must be leashed, friendly and be current on their rabies vaccination. Retractable leashes are not recommended at this event. The first 25 registered participants will receive a "Goody Bag" of great pet items! Early registration begins at 10:30am and pet contests will be from 11:30am-12:30pm. Meet & greet adoptable dogs from the Humane Society/SPCA and you may even find your new best friend!
