Past Olympians and Olympic hopefuls will be in Orlando, Florida, and at Orlando BMX for one of the final stops of the 2012 USA BMX National Series.  Friday through Sunday, October 26 through 28 and for the 6th consecutive year, the USA BMX Fall Nationals will be hosting some of the fastest BMX racers in the World.  Last weekend in Fresno, California, all of the men’s medalists were present for a USA BMX Pro Series race.  This weekend in Orlando all 2012 men’s medalist as well as numerous other Olympians will be present including gold medalist Maris Stromsbergs from Latvia and silver medalist, Australia’s Sam Willoughby.

Bicycle Motocross racing made its debut in the 2008 Olympics.  Last year, numerous Olympic athletes competed in Orlando. This year a star studded lineup of past Olympians and 2016 Olympic hopefuls will all be competing once again at the Orland BMX track.  Eight riders speed down the starting hill to the first obstacle and race around the track maneuvering over obstacles and around banked turns in hopes of gaining a spot on the podium.  This Olympic sport is exciting to watch for all ages! 

In addition to the top male and female pros in the World, the event will draw some of the fastest and up and coming amateurs from around the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.  These riders range in age from 2 to 76 and will be racing to amass points for titles in their age classes and the highly coveted USA BMX #1 amateur title.    It is anticipated that the weekend will see over 1,200 racers each day, attracting thousands of fans and spectators to the Orlando BMX facility.

Action for the weekend gets started on Friday with registration and practice taking place from 9:00 to 2:30 p.m.  Racing on Friday will begin at 3:00 p.m.  Saturday gets started with practice beginning at 8:00 a.m. and racing beginning at 11:30 a.m.  Sunday, the gates open at 7:00 a.m. and racing begins at 8:00 a.m.  A day parking pass is $5 and there is no admission charge for spectators.
