Lotus Yoga Center will host a program of Bharata Natyam ( Classical Dance of South India) by Jaan R. Freeman.Mr. Freeman performs in the rare style and lineage of the late great dancer Thanjavur Balasaraswati. Freeman a disciple of Nandini Ramani & Priyamda Sankar, both senior disciples of Balasaraswati.Bharata Natyam ~ For New Audiences is a program designed to introduce this art to new audiences throughout the US and has been touring since 2008. The program will feature items of the repertoire with and audience artist dialogue during the program. Items range from pure rhythmic dancing to dramatic storytelling drawing from Hindu mythology, puranas ( ancient stories) and real life situations.
