Cordon Bleu chef Dr. Hari Pulapaka will discuss his love of cooking and share some recipes during a free presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Hopkins Hall, 192 Connecticut Ave., Lake Helen.

Dr. Pulapaka and his wife, Dr. Jenneffer Pulapaka, own Cress Restaurant, which was recently named the best restaurant in the greater Orlando area by Zagat Survey LLC, a national company that scores restaurants based on diner surveys. Cooking is a second job for the couple. By day, he is an associate professor of mathematics at Stetson University and she is a podiatrist with DeLand Foot and Leg Center.

The free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Lake Helen Public Library. Reservations are not required. For more information, please call 386-228-1152.

Hopkins Hall, built in 1897, was Lake Helen’s library until 1988, when the Lake Helen Public Library was built across the street. It remains one of the anchors of the Lake Helen Historic District, and the friends group holds its public programs there.
