Long known for its wealth of patron-friendly events, DeLand is adding another jewel to its crown. On the evening of January 25th, downtown will be overflowing with magnificent service dogs coupled with equally magnificent artists. The newly revised DeLand Art Walk, is designed to feature a distinctively unique art theme each month. This month will combine artists with a fund-raising event for My Angel With Paws. This successful local service dog organization trains and carefully places these superbly trained service animals with needy handicapped individuals. 

On Friday, the 25th more than twenty-two downtown merchants will open their doors to host artists demonstrating, displaying and marketing their artwork alongside the splendidly trained service dogs and their handlers. Donation containers will be readily available for patrons' contributions to the My Angel With Paws organization. Additionally, the Art Walk will offer many opportunities to bid on silent auction items contributed by members of the community as well as participating merchants. On the night of the walk, visitors can view the auction pieces at Funky Trunk Treasures at 100 N. Woodland Boulevard. Bidding will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8:15 p.m. Sponsors will name auction winners prior to the 9 p.m. closing on January 25th.

This stellar happening, a "must see” for all art-lovers and dog-lovers, runs from 6 to 9 p.m.  Patrons can enjoy a dinner in one of DeLand's fine eateries, chat with an artist, acquire an admired piece of art, and feel awestruck by the marvelous abilities of these service dogs.

The DeLand Art Walk is another great event presented by the MainStreet DeLand Association (www.MainStreetDeLand.org) and is held the fourth Friday of each month. February’s Art Walk will host dozens of young artists from DeLand High School and showcase their creative work.

DeLand Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour of the Historic Downtown area. Art galleries, museums, cultural venues, restaurants and boutiques host artists within their businesses from 6pm to 9pm on the fourth Friday of every month, rain or shine. Look for an official Art Walk banner in the front of each stop to identify the participating venues.
