Greater Orlando CARES of The National CARES Mentoring Movement (GO CARES) stands strong for justice for our children. In acknowledgement of the one year anniversary since the tragic death of Trayvon Martin, GO CARES is hosting a youth oriented forum with the Martin family attorney Natalie A. Jackson on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the Well of Hope Church, 5230 Indian Hill Rd, Orlando, FL 32808 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.Honoring Black History Month, GO CARES is directing the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin to a teachable moment for the Orlando community. Seventeen year old Trayvon Martin did not intend to make history on the evening of February 26, 2012 during his walk from a convenience store in nearby Sanford, FL. His tragic encounter with George Zimmerman, however, would later move a nation to demand justice and challenge the legitimacy of controversial gun laws like “Stand Your Ground”. The evening theme “Making History: What Will Be Your Mark”, will focus attention on attendees, particularly our youth, discussing, deciding, and behaving in ways that may have positive impact for generations. The event will also recognize some Orlando area individuals who continue the memory of Trayvon Martin in actions for change.  GO CARES Making History 2013 Forum Making History 2013! 0.00
