The College of Arts and Humanities and the Texts and Technology Ph.D Program is proud to present "Craft Anecdotes" by Jeff Rice. Rice is an Associate Professor at the Martha B. Reynolds Endowed Professor in Writing, Rhetoric and Digital Media at the University of Kentucky. He is also the Co-Director of the Wired Residential College.
"Craft signifies product (craft beer), technology (social media) and a type of networked identity. To speak about all three at once, we might begin with the anecdote, a narrative device for setting up a story. In this talk, I tell one story of craft as a series of - what Roland Barthes calls - the "interrupted" anecdote, each drawing from the next, each producing patterns whose overall exploration leads to what I call craft identity, a body of meaning that juxtaposes craft beer, social media, and me."
