Concerts, Rock, Fundraisers
The Friends of DeBary Hall will host a benefit rock concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at DeBary Hall Historic Site, 198 Sunrise Blvd.
Rock the Roof! will feature the music of guitar virtuoso Brad Sayre, a barbecue dinner with all the fixings, a cash bar, drawings and prizes. A looping slide show of preservation efforts at DeBary Hall through the years also will be presented.
Tickets are $45 per person and may be purchased by calling 386-668-3840. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
Proceeds will benefit the roof-restoration project at DeBary Hall, a 19th-century hunting lodge that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. More than $350,000 is needed to repair and restore the aging roof, which has sprung some leaks.
“When we heard the roof need repair, we decided to support the county in its efforts to preserve this historic asset," said Sharon Freeman, president of the Friends of DeBary Hall, which supports the upkeep and educational programs at the site. "We wanted to do something fun to raise money toward the project and increase awareness about historic preservation."
Tours of the historic hunting lodge and Imagidome Theater require an additional admission price of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, and $2 for children ages 3 to 12.
DeBary Hall Historic Site is owned by the State of Florida and managed by Volusia County’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Division.
