The Tampa Bay Seminole Club PresentsCOCKTAILS AROUND THE WORLD at EPCOTOctober 12, 2013EPCOT, Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida Join the Tampa Noles as we Cocktail Around the World at EPCOT on the afternoon of October 12, 2013 (it's an FSU BYE WEEKEND). EPCOT's World Showcase hosts 11 countries, sharing with guests the culture, cuisine, and cocktails of the world! Cocktailing Around the World involves stopping in each country and enjoying a country-specific cocktail and/or food. For newbies, the rules are simple - when in France, buy and drink a French cocktail (Champagne anyone? Perhaps a Grey Goose Orange Slushie?). When in Japan, enjoy hot or cold saki, Japanese beer, even sushi. When in Rome, do as the Romans do and vino vino vino. Germany - BEERTIME! Get the picture?BUT WAIT - THERE'S MORE!For 6 weeks every fall (when the Florida weather tends to be most beautiful) EPCOT puts on its legendary International Food and Wine Festival! This year, Food and Wine Festival runs from Sept. 27 through Nov. 11 - so Tampa Noles' Cocktailing Around the World falls in the dadgummit middle of Food and Wine Festival! FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL TOO!Instead of just 11 countries, Food and Wine Festival offers over 30 different places to eat and drink at! The 2013 Festival Countries have yet to be announced - we'll update this page when they are - but check out the 2012 Cocktail Stations! Cocktails Around the World is great by itself. Food and Wine Festival is Awesome by itself. Combine the two together in a (hopefully) beautiful fall weekend - WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER! (Or Lobsterman's Pie - more on that below)PARTYING AROUND THE WORLD - NOLE STYLE!By plane, train or automobile (or bus), get yourself to EPCOT on Saturday Oct. 12. We'll all meet at 1pm in the famed Rose and Crown Pub (in the U.K. section of EPCOT) to start the afternoon off right with some Guinness, Cider, Irish Car Bombs, or whatever other cocktails float your boat. Hungry? How about some really good fish and chips, or even better - Lobsterman's Pie (think Shepard's Pie, but with lobster instead of meat).Leaving the U.K., we'll travel in a counter-clockwise direction across the Channel (really just a bridge) to France! Prepare for adult Slush drinks - Grey Goose Citron Lemon Slush, or the legendary Grand Marnier orange slush! Great French beer on tap (ever try Kronenbourg 1664?), awesome French champagne and champagne cocktails, real French wine, Kir Royale, not to mention great French foods, crepes, croquettes, etc. Bon appetite!Continuing in a counter-clockwise direction, the next Cocktails Around the World Stop puts in Morocco! Sangria, beer, and Oasis Slushies await as we prepare for the next country!Next up: SakeWorld (a/k/a Japan). Hot sake, cold sake, sweet sake, dry sake, I'll drink them all! EPCOT Japan is just excellent - have some sushi, miso soup, Japanese beer, or just skip everything for sake! The hot sake is great, but the cold sake bar downstairs is legendary (who knew really good sake is served cold??!!). They've got dozens of great cold sakes to drink - all excellent! After Japan, it's AMERICA TIME! Mostly beer and some wine is served in America, but Food and Wine will likely add a few other drinking stands.GET READY - we depart America for ITALY - the land of food and wine! How about some chianti? Or maybe some prosecco (Italian champagne). Check out the awesome new wine bar - or the incredible and incredibly authentic Via Napoli pizzeria (they import flour from Naples, cook the pizza in 1,000 degree imported wood fired pizza ovens (it takes 60 seconds to cook!), use real tomato and cheese - awesome!)GERMANY is our next stop! And guess what - EPCOT Germany will be partying like it's Ockoberfest- BECAUSE IT IS OKTOBERFEST!!!! Beer and giant beer stines for everybody! Or better yet, how about some ice cold jaeger? WIN.After Germany comes CHINA. Chinese beer on tap, Chinese wine, and specialty Chinese cocktails await!NORWAY is the next stop on the tour. Beer, wine, and Norwegian shots await the brave Tampa Noles! Norway is a good point to rest, regroup, and prepare for the next country. Get ready - it's gonna be HUGE.Next: MEXICO. Specifically, La Cava de Tequila. EPCOT Mexico opened up the Tequilla Cave a few years back, and it's awesome! Even if you don't like tequila, you'll love this place - their margaritas are so incredibly fresh you won't even taste tequila! But if you like the firey water, try some tequilla flights to sample! They have over 300 differnt types of tequila, everything from cucumber margaritas to Mexican beer to chips, salsa, and - yep - avocado margaritas! Awesomeness - like spring break for grown-ups! Don't forget to pick up a 3 foot tall Giant Mexican Hat!Final Stop: CANADA. More beer. Really good Canadian beer. And then, guess where we are again? We've gone full circle and are now back at the UK's Rose and Crown Pub! We'll party at the Pub until the fireworks show starts! EPCOT typically closes around 930, so if you're taking the Tampa Noles charter bus (more on that below), the bus departs EPCOT after the fireworks. If you're grabbing a hotel room (more on that below, too!), the partying continues! We'll exit EPCOT through back door (between France and UK) and walk the short distance from EPCOT to the Boardwalk. The Boardwalk has the awesome ESPN Sportszone, dueling pianos, and dancing! Plus more food and cocktails! THINGS TO KNOWTRANSPORTATIONEPCOT is about 75 minutes west of downtown Tampa along I-4. Drive, catch a ride, or if there's enough interest, Tampa Noles will charter a bus from Tampa to EPCOT and back! If you're thinking about the bus, email email@example.com and let us know - bus will probably be about $30/person, it'll leave from a central south Tampa location around 10am, and get back to Tampa probably around 11:30pm. If you drive, parking is available at EPCOT (Disney charges a parking fee), or if you're grabbing a hotel room, park at your hotel - every hotel has free shuttles to/from EPCOT. HOTELSGrab a hotel and make it a weekend! There are tons of hotel rooms around EPCOT, ranging from the super-budget 1 star $60ish/night, to the super lux 5 star Waldorf Astoria (heavenly) for $200-$300/night, and everything in between. Check out Expedia or a travel website. Generally EPCOT hotels fall into 3 categories - Budget, Mid-Range, Awesome.BUDGET - Disney has a few hotels orientated towards families and travelers on a budget. All Star Sports, All Star Movies, and All Star Music are low key, budget Disney motels, with rates usually around $100-$120/night. They offer free transportation to/from EPCOT, and they're all located on Disney property. Also on Disney Property near Downtown Disney/Hotel Blvd. are a number of lower cost (but nice) hotels, ranging from the Buena Vista Palace and Lake Buena Vista Hilton (both should be around $100/night for Fla Residents) to Best Western, etc.MID RANGE - One of the nicest hotels for Cocktails Around the World are the Swan or Dolphin Hotels. Operated by Starwood (e.g. Westin, W, Sheraton, St. Regis), the Swan (Westin brand hotel) and the Dolphin (Sheraton) are on Disney property and THEY'RE WALKING DISTANCE FROM EPCOT AND BOARDWALK!!!! Expect room rates of $170 to $220/night during the fall (www.swandolphin.com). Also, check out the Bonnet Creek Hilton - a new Hilton hotel nearby (awesome lazy river!), usually $130-$200/night. Gaylord Palms, Marriott World Center, and Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress are also great choices, similar price range. Most hotels have Florida resident rates, and if you qualify, government rates.SUPER LUX - for those who demand the best or are looking to impress (e.g. get some), the EPCOT area has some great, great, great world class hotels! Check out the Waldorf Astoria Orlando, right near EPCOT in the Bonnet Creek area of Disney property. The Waldorf (www.waldorfastoriaorlando.com) is spectacular, the rooms huge, and the service amazing. If you really want to do it right, have dinner that evening at the Bull & Bear Steakhouse - one of the best in the world. Waldorf will set you back a little - expect to pay $200-$300/night, but it's an awesome experience. Waldorf also does it's own Food and Wine Festival parties, and in October they have Adult Trick-Or-Treating involving specialty cocktails. Disney-brand hotels include the Grand Floridian, the newly renovated Contemporary, Boardwalk, Beach and Yacht clubs, Animal Kingdom lodge, etc. Disney hotels always tend to be very expensive for some reason - expect to pay $300-$500/night or more for staying at a Disney lux hotel. COSTS1. REGISTRATION FEES $20. Registration for Tampa Noles Cocktails Around the World is $20, which includes an Official Tampa Noles Cocktails Around the World T-Shirt! Wear your Tampa Noles shirt while Cocktailing Around the World so we can all party together! 2. EPCOT Admission $89. An EPCOT admission ticket is required to get into EPCOT and participate in Cocktails Around the World and enjoy the Food and Wine Festival. Purchase your tickets directly from Disney (either online, in person at EPCOT, at AAA, at Disney hotels, and other places). EPCOT 1 day tickets are currently $89. Or check out Florida Resident specials - they come and go throughout the year. Also, if you're going to hit EPCOT or Disney theme parks for 3 days in any calendar year, you might want to bite the bullet and buy an Annual Pass, which start around $28/month on an annual payment plan ($320 total) (or even less when purchased at AAA) with the Florida Resident rate. 3. TRANSPORTATION. Get yourself there, or if there's enough interest, we'll charter a bus. Bus tickets will probably be about $30 roundtrip. If you drive, expect to pay to park, not to mention gas!4. DRINKS AND FOOD. Prices are pretty reasonable - drink prices range from $4-$10 per beverage on average, and food is typically in the same price range. Expect to drop at least $50 on food and drinks, and possibly more if you eat/drink a lot!5. HOTEL - Hotels range from $60-$500 or more depending on where you stay. Share a room to keep costs down - most hotel rooms can easily handle 3 or 4 people (or more). Legal Stuff and the Fine PrintDISCLAIMER CLAUSE - THIS IS IMPORTANT!
