We live in a world where 1.3 billion people live on less than one dollar a day. As global citizens, we can help communities become self-sufficient. Participants, sponsors, partners and volunteers of PartnershipsInAction are part of a worldwide movement, mobilizing around the universal Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), committed to cut extreme poverty and hunger in half by 2015.
PartnershipsInAction Walk is an initiative of the Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A (AKF USA) and its network of volunteers across the U.S. to raise awareness and funds for innovative self-help programs that create hope and opportunity for disadvantaged communities in the developing world. Since the launch of the first Partnership Walk in Los Angeles in 1995, PartnershipsInAction initiatives have expanded across the U.S. in 10 major cities, attracting over 410,000 participants and raising over $54 million nationwide. This popular national event bridges Americans’ spirit of generosity by reaching out to uplift people living in extreme poverty around the world.
100% of the funds raised go directly to the programs supported by Aga Khan Foundation.
Since its launch in 2008, 10,000 people have attended the Orlando Walk , and we raised $1,088,000. With your help we hope to top that this year to make an incredible impact on poor communities needing access to clean water, educating new generations of girls and women, and helping farmers grow bountiful crops to feed their families and earn income. We can all do our part to create a safer and more equitable world for all children and families.
