The Art & History Museums – Maitland (A&H) invites you to start your holiday celebration with the Waterhouse family at the annual exhibition, Holidays at the Waterhouse, beginning on November 23, 2012 and continuing through January 13, 2013.  The exhibition takes place at the historic Waterhouse Residence Museum, 820 Lake Lily Drive, Maitland.  Museum hours are Thursday – Sunday, 12:00 – 4:00 PM (closed major holidays).  Admission is 3.00 for adults; $2.00 for Seniors (55 & older) and for Children (4-18 years).  A&H Members and Children (3 & under) are free.

Holidays at the Waterhouse takes you on a journey back to the late 1800s to see the Waterhouse home as Sarah and William Waterhouse and their children Charles and Stella prepare for their Christmas celebration.  Each room features Victorian-era holiday decorations and interesting historical facts about the yuletide.  Be sure to search for the Waterhouse Mouse, inspired by the beloved story, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.  Each year, the Waterhouse Mouse, who loves a game of “hide and seek,” finds a new place to hide, and is eager for you to come and find him!

The Waterhouse Residence was built in 1884 by pioneer settler and builder William H. Waterhouse as a home for his family. This house has been beautifully restored to reflect the way of life enjoyed by a middle class family during the late Victorian period. Your first step into the foyer is a step into the past, when Florida heart of pine was turned by hand to form an Eastlake staircase; when visitors came "calling," card in hand, and engaged in conversation seated upon furnishings stuffed with horsehair and wood-wool.

Your holiday season kick-off is sure to be a joyous one at Holidays at the Waterhouse.  For additional information, phone 407-539-2181 or visit www.ArtandHistory.org.
