The case was unlike anything the doctors had seen.
The 18 month old boy had changes in his voice, attitude, genitals, and even developed some acne.
Physicians in India began by treating the case with injections.
But the shots are very costly and would have had to be given for over a decade.
So the parents made the difficult decision to allow brain surgery.
International Business Times reports neurosurgeons removed tissue that looked abnormal in the boy’s hypothalamus.
That’s the part of the brain that helps to control hormones and would be the culprit in cases like this one.
After the procedure the chief neurosurgeon wore a side smile when he described the outcome of the operation.
“His hormone values became normal for his age, and he does not require any further treatment."
