Florida’s offense was battered in last week’s 21-16 loss at Miami, and QB Jeff Driskel bruised more than just his pride. He was seen on campus using crutches today, prompting the Gators to issue a statement regarding his health.
A spokesperson for the football program said Driskel sustained a “slight sprain” in his knee Saturday and is “taking some weight off of it” during the bye week. He is expected to be fine for UF’s next game, Sept. 21 against Tennessee.
Driskel, a junior, suffered the injury in the second quarter against Miami, but stayed in the game. He completed 22 of 33 passes for a career-high 291 yards with a touchdown pass and two interceptions. He also ran for a touchdown and lost a fumble.
He has been banged up frequently in his year-plus as UF’s starter, but managed to play through most of his injuries. He missed a game and a half last year with a sprained ankle.
