I have no desire to rehash others' arguments about when and why the SEC became a better conference, or make lame excuses about the weather to explain performances in bowl games. Instead, I want to take a look at what makes the Tide tick - what are their strengths and weaknesses? How do the Buckeyes match up?
So what about now, in 2013, coming off two straight national championships? How is the Crimson Tide's mindset this year? "We've been a work in progress this year in terms of trying to get our players to focus on paying attention to detail," Saban said Thursday
Alabama was only truly vulnerable last season when it turned the ball over. In games versus LSU, Texas A&M; and Georgia (games in which Alabama outscored its opponents 77-74), the Crimson Tide lost more than 25 points in scoreboard value on turnovers.
“What happened was on Signing Day [was] I wasn’t sure who I wanted to sign with,” Thomas told the paper. “I had issues with different schools. But when I told my mom I didn’t want to sign with anybody and wait and give it a few days she said I couldn’t do that. She said, ‘FSU is a good school – pick them. It’s close to home.’ I wasn’t agreeing with it. But I felt like I was being disrespectful to her if I didn’t sign. So I made her happy.”
Alabama took in $124,899,945 in revenue and spent $108,204,867 for a subsidy of $5,461,200. Texas was No. 1 nationally with $163,295,115 in total revenue
