Green has struggled with a knee injury during his first two years on campus. He redshirted in 2011 and did not see the field during 2012.

Though he has yet to participate in any games to this point in his career, Green's lengthy offer list out of high school and the fact that outgoing defensive line coach frequently raved about him suggest that, if healthy, Green could make a push to bring quality depth to the interior defensive line.
Still, it looks like Deon has an uphill battle ahead to get meaningful snaps in 2013. As recently as halfway through spring practice, defensive line coach Deke Adams intimated that Green had been passed over by Gerald Dixon, Jr. in the competition to occupy the non-Kelcy Quarles defensive tackle position.
Also, I imagine that being 283 pounds and having a nagging knee injury that keeps you out for two whole seasons is a pretty big hole to try to climb out of. But the depth that South Carolina has on the defensive line should ensure that the coaching staff can bring him along as slowly as his knee may require.
Deon's first name is actually Lemuel, meaning that - between Green and former Gamecock and current Seattle Seahawk Lemuel Jeanpierre - South Carolina has had a Lemuel on the roster for eight of the last nine seasons.
